Chlorella is a genus of unicellular green algae belongs to the Phylum Chlorophyta. It is rich in protein and rich in chlorophyll,carotenoids. It has put putative anti-carcinogenic, immunomodulatory, hypolipidemic, gastric, mucosal-protective and detoxification activities. A clorella extract has demonstrated anti-tumor and anti-metastatic effects in animal experiments. Chlorella has showed some experimental anti-atherogenic activity and some radio-protective and chemo-detoxifying effects. It has showed some preliminary benefit in immue function and in some with fibromyalgia.
