5. Descriptions:
It is orange crystal with camphor like smell. It can be sublimed over 100C, melting point: 172-174C, boiling point: 249C. It is soluble in organic solvents such as gasoline, benzene, ethanol, ether etc., but not soluble in water & in boiled alkali solution & hydrochloric acid. It is very stable, heat-resistant up to 400C, UV-resistant.

7. Applications
Ferrocene is an advanced additive for eliminating smoking & saving energy used in various fuels such as gasoline, diesel oil, coal & some aviation oils. It can improve the octane value of fuels, when we add 1000ppm ferrocene in gasoline of which the octane value is only 56, the octane value of gasoline will be improved to 70. Moreover, it can be used as light sensitizer of plastics, anitknock agent, polymer initiator and catalyst to the synthesize ammonia.
