The principal raw material for the expandable graphite is a high quality crystalline flake graphite. Expandable graphite belongs to a group of products called intumescents. The main property of intumescents is their ability to expand when heated.

Applications:

i) additive in plastic and bituminous roofing membranes;

ii) used in the manufacture of high performance seating foam;

iii) in speciallised steel production, it acts as exfoliating media in hot topping compounds;

iv) the finer grades can be used as exothermic powder covering in foundry coating applications.

v) intumescent coating and sealing materials.
